******* START OF THE INTERVIEW *******

Question: For starting, can you please tell us what was your very first motivation on your quest for Atlantis?

Answer: Until the year 2000, I had little interest in Atlantis. My primary research into unusual topics concerned UFOs, strange phenomena, Native American Indian mounds, and speculations on topics like the Nephilim and the origins of civilization. British author Andrew Collins, who wrote “Gateway to Atlantis” (1999), became a close friend in 2002 and I decided to personally investigate a series of discoveries around the large Bahamas island of Andros that were first reported in 1968 and 1969. Collins speculated that Cuba was the main island of Atlantis but he wrote that the circles and other mysterious underwater forms around Andros could be related to Atlantis. These circles and strange underwater formations had only been seen from the air and no one had ever visited them on water. My wife Lora and I then went on a series of expeditions to Andros, Bimini, the Yucatan, Guatemala, and the Great Bahama Bank. We found and visited all the strange underwater formations and determined that all of them were natural. But we unexpectedly found a three-tiered stone platform under shallow water off Andros in a previously unexplored area. This discovery caused us to continue the search, which continues to this day. Free Quicktime clips from this search can be seen at: http://www.mysterious-america.net/2003atlantissear.html

In the 1970’s, Dr. David Zink, an English professor, spent several years examining the Bimini Road. His research was partly funded by the ARE. One of most important things Zink accomplished was to make a map of the formation. The map depicts only the largest stones that are visible from the surface.

Question: From the readings of Edgar Cayce about the mankind’s past, which one of them have been recently proven true by mainstream science and how many of them are still pending to be proven?

Answer: Beginning in 1999, we started making a detailed list of all of Cayce’s statements about the ancient world and its history. These were classified into various categories. For example, Cayce made 30 specific statements about America’s Mound Builders and ancient American history, which were contained in 68 of his 14,000+ readings. About 77 percent of them were verified by modern research. There isn’t enough known to verify or discredit 20 percent of them. Only 3 percent we concluded were wrong.

Those that were correct were considered to be ridiculous when he first stated them. For example, he stated that people were in the Americas by 50,000 BC. He stated that people from the South Pacific came to South America and America’s southwest around 50,000 BC, which genetic research in the late 1990s and early 2000s validated. He also stated that mound building began around 3000 BC in the southern USA by an intrusive group of people who then went to Mexico. In 1997, the first American mounds were reported in Louisiana at Watson Brake, dated to just before 3000 BC. He also related that the Norse entered America and actually merged with Indian tribes, a statement just recently verified through DNA analysis. Regarding South America, Cayce made 10 specific statements. He related that various people were there by 28,000 BC and that several large migrations of people around 10,000 BC entered the Americas. He gave a meticulous history of how these various groups started the construction of mounds and pyramids and their movements from America’s south to Mexico and then into the Ohio River Valley around 1000 BC. Nine of his 10 statements about South America appear to be true. The most intriguing statements made by Cayce have been confirmed by a type of DNA analysis called mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA). A specific type of mtDNA, called Haplogroup X, appears to be Atlantean. The “X” type is found only where Cayce related that Atlanteans went in 28,000 BC and around 10,000 BC.

Question: About the prophecies, could you please summarize us the most relevant ones which have been already fulfilled and those ones which are to come in the near future?

Answer: In 1940, Cayce stated that a portion of Atlantis, part of the island of “Poseidia”, would be discovered near Bimini in 1968 and 1969. The “Bimini Road” or “Bimini Wall” was discovered in 1968. Cayce also spoke of a disaster in the South Pacific area that would begin a series of earth changes that would change the earth’s poles. Many people believe that the 2004 tsunami was that event. Others believe that the 2001 attack on the Twin Towers in New York was forseen, but Cayce gave no dates for these events. Events Cayce definitely predicted include the 1929 US Stock Market Crash, the 1930s depression, and the discovery of the Essenes. The most catastrophic predictions yet to come are the drastic changes he stated would occur due to rising ocean waters and a series of eruptions that will come with earth changes. He said that the middle of America, where the Mississippi River now flows, will become a massive lake leading to the Gulf of Mexico. Many other areas of earth will also be affected, Japan would largely be under water as would parts of Europe and America’s present eastern coastline.

Question: What is your opinion regarding what Edgar Cayce has said about Atlantis? He mentions that the Atlanteans possessed great technology, very similar to that one which “gods” had, according to the old Hindu writings (Vimanas), for example.

Answer: Our just released book (Edgar Cayce’s Atlantis) explains all of this in detail as well as the controversy. According to Cayce, the Atlanteans had flying machines by 50,000 BC. There are various descriptions of these in Cayce’s readings. Most of the descriptions relate that airships similar to blimps or dergibles were used, but other descriptions are quite similar to the vimanas. I’m personally neutral on these issues, I just don’t know. It is fantastic to think that they may have had such technology, but I think that dismissing it as impossible is just as rash as accepting it. I don’t know, but I haven’t ruled it out.

This is a photomosaic of four still images from digital video of a portion of the uniform row of stones running parallel to the J-shape closer to the shore. The combined photos were made relatively seamless by computer software. The row is straight and is identical to quays built along the shoreline at ancient Mediterranean harbors.

Question: In relation to Bimini findings, most of skeptics claim that the underwater formations which have been found, such as the “road”, are totally natural. Writings of geologists Eugene Shinn and Wyman Harrison are often used as references for that. What is your opinion about these claims?

Area of the Bimini Road that is unusually uniform.Answer: Harrison related that the Bimini Road was natural limestone after finding that two small samples he obtained from the thousands of stones there were limestone. Harrison never looked under the stones. I have yet to find anyone who has actually read Shinn’s 1978 article on Bimini. In his 1978 article, he reported on 17 cores he took from Bimini stones. He speculated that if the formation was “natural limestone” forming on a beach all 17 cores would “dip toward deep water”. He actually related that less than 25 percent of them showed what he expected to find. But in 1980 he altered this finding and by 2004 he stated that all 17 of his cores “dipped toward deep water”. It was a hoax. In 2005 I corresponded extensively with Shinn. He has no archaeological background at all and had a bachelor’s degree in biology. He admitted he was inaccurate and “did it for fun”.

Only one archaeologist has carefully examined Bimini and he has concluded that it is the remains of an ancient harbor. In 2005 we went to Bimini with him and found absolute proof of this under the stones. There are cut rectangular slabs of stone serving as leveling blocks under the massive blocks that are seen from the surface. We also found numerous ancient anchors there and recovered two dozen cut pieces of marble under massive blocks. We also investigated a new underwater site at Bimini that has 5 stone circles littered with numerous ancient stone anchors. From February 24, 2006 to March 3, 2006 we were with a production crew from NBC at Bimini and other sites filming a documentary on these new finds. The documentary (to be aired in July 2006 on SciFi) will conclusively prove that Bimini was an ancient harbor. A 16-minute Quicktime clip of Bimini and Andos can be seen at: http://www.edgarcayce.org/am/biminiandrosvide.html

Above left: Aerial photo of the Bimini formations taken from 6000 feet. Above right: The red area (A) is the main formation known as the Bimini Road. B (the blue line) is the shoreline when sea levels were 15-feet below present level. C (yellow line) is Proctor’s Road. D (green line) is the shoreline when sea levels were 8 feet below present levels. E (light green) is the present Bimini shoreline.

Question: Has it been possible to establish a total perimeter of the underwater ruins or is there a chance that what has been found until now is only part from a wider area with more undersea ruins?

Answer: That’s an interesting question. The “new” area with the stone circles is about 1 km from the main site. The main Bimini formation has been fully mapped but the new area has not. The harbor area shows a sandy bottom but it hasn’t been excavated. Plans are in the works to perform a sub-bottom profile of the harbor area to see what remains are there such as ship parts, artifacts, etc. Side-scan sonar has been used to look at areas around the main site and it turned up many intriguing things. But there were problems with the system that was used and it will be completely redone soon. These plans also include immediate investigation of what is revealed by the side scan sonar.

Question: Can you give us a detailed description of the most important archaeological pieces found until now in the site?

Unusual square stone showing a U-shaped cut to its middle.Answer: During the 2006 trip to film the documentary, we actually removed 5 rectangular slabs wedged deeply under the massive blocks. These are all about 2 by 3 feet and 8 inches in thickness. They are all cut and show sharp, angular edges —and were filmed as they were removed. We also pulled up two stone anchors. One anchor with multiple holes was sent to the Bimini museum. Another one was about 400 pounds and had one large hole drilled through its middle. We also found two dozen marble pieces, several cut stone artifacts, and numerous mortice cuts on stones. One other find was several wedge stones. These were smooth slabs of stone about two to three feet long and a foot wide that tapered from 8 inched to an edge only one inch thick. These seem to have been used by pounding them under the huge blocks to prop their sides up to level the formation. The massive Bimini formation, over 1900-feet long, was a curved breakwater that had a flat top. It is elevated from the bottom. Smooth slabs of stone seem to have been placed at several locations as loading platforms —a quay.

Two pieces of the marble removed from under a block at the Bimini Road. Because the stones were found tightly wedged under a block, essentially buried there, it is highly unlikely that they are ballast dumped from a passing ship.

Question: There are many theories about the location of Atlantis, most of them are based on Plato’s writings and adapted to a geographic site and time in the history. In this case of “Atlantis in the Caribbean”, is there evidence that can prove that this same sunken land in the sea is that one described by Plato?

Answer: Bimini is actually in the Atlantic Ocean as is Andros Island. Our thinking is related to both Cayce and Plato. Cayce related that Atlantis began in the Atlantic Ocean at Gibraltar and extended all the way to the Gulf of Mexico and the Caribbean. Plato related that Atlantis was an island empire that consisted of several islands and that by moving from island to island, one could reach the “opposite continent”. Plato also related that the war against the Mediterranean was started “at some point distant in the Atlantic Ocean”. We believe that Atlantis was an empire of islands that included the Canaries, the Azores, the Bahamas, Cuba, and other islands. The main island containing the Center City is what most people want to find, and I side with Andrew Collins idea that it was on Cuba. We have identified a site at Cuba’s Zapata Peninsula as a prime possibility for the Center City.

Various areas where multiple tiers are found. Since the skeptics claimed that not a single example of these exist at Bimini, it is obvious that their claim is wrong.

Question: Close to Bimini, Westwards from the findings, there were great, prosperous civilizations such as Mayas and Aztecs. Both of them spoke about “Teaching Gods” who came from the sea (Kukulcan/Quetzalcoatl). In that area there are great pyramids and cities like Teotihuacan, whose name alludes to the “Gods”. Do you think that those Mesoamerican cultures were influenced and instructed by the survivors of the Atlantean cataclysm? If that is the case, did a similar thing happen in Ancient Egypt?

Answer: The short answer is “yes” to all of these questions. Andrew Collins related the story of Votan, a variation of Kukulkan. Votan went from Cuba to a river near Yucatan. From there, he went upstream where he established a city. Cayce told about a man called Iltar, who took the Atlantean records to Piedras Negras, Guatemala, where he established one of three identical Hall of Records. A man called Alta established a Hall of Records near Bimini, which is now underwater. The third record hall is in Egypt, accessed under the Sphinx.

Question: Regarding Egypt, it is known that non-invasive research carried out by J.A. West and Robert Schoch on the Great Sphinx revealed that quadrangular cavities beneath this monument exist (just as Edgar Cayce stated). In addition to that, recent researches also point out to secret underground chambers under the Great Pyramid. In your opinion, why is it that even when all indications point out to the existence of the so-called “Hall of Records”, the research to finally prove their existence is taking so much time?

Answer: Cayce’s primary reading on the Egypt Hall of Records was made in 1933. Between 1959 and 1979 the ARE (the Cayce organization) worked with many groups at Egypt to access the Hall of Records. In 1997, ARE members Joe Jahoda and Dr. Joseph Schor performed ground penetrating radar near the Sphinx and found a 25-by-40-foot cavern near the Sphinx. They then drilled a small hole there and placed a drop camera in the opening. They saw what looked like a cave that made an unnatural 90 degree turn. Their research was suddenly stopped by a series of complications that involved social, cultural, scientific, and religious issues. Since then, not much has happened. Schoch looked at the findings of others and concluded that a chamber may well be there. Cayce related that the Halls of Records would be opened when the time was right —when humanity was ready to receive the information. This may be the answer as to why it has taken so much time. Quite simply, the time isn’t right —we aren’t ready. The motives of people have to be spiritualy based. For example, there remains a great interest in gold that Cayce stated was at Bimini. We have tried to stay as far away from the site of the gold as possible.

Question: Do you think that perhaps for some people (Hawass, mainly) it is not suitable that some findings could take away the already doubtful “credit” of the ancient Egyptians at the Giza Complex?

Answer: All civilizations have some sort of precursor, and I have no doubt that the modern Egyptian ancestors built the Giza monuments. But every group of people come from “somewhere” and even traditional science says all people originated from the same source. The situation in Egypt is similar to recent discoveries about Native American Indians. Some tribes assert that the modern genetic research is trying to rob them of their heritage, but to me (as a part Native American Indian) it is an enrichment of their heritage. Egypt was certainly looted of some of its most precious artifacts and that plays a role in Egyptian politics. If the 1800s explorers could have taken the Great Pyramid and the Sphinx to their museums, they would have done so. Dr. Hawass is in a tough position trying to balance religious ideology with science and he wants to preserve what is there. Precisely who the ancient Egyptians actually were may be a scary thing for modern Egyptians. It appears that ancient Egypt was a blend of many peoples, but my perspective is that this only enriches the heritage of Egypt. But to some people, this is an attempt to rob Egypt of its ancient prowess. I don’t know what Hawass really believes, but the balance he has to maintain may be the source of some problems.

Question: We talk about Andros/Bimini, and we talk about Egypt. In both sites there can be found the supposed Atlantean “Hall of Records” or at least vestiges of this ancient civilization. Can you tell us about Black Rocks (in Guatemala), the place where, according to Edgar Cayce, will be found the third one?

Answer: The site of Piedras Negras, Guatemala (Piedras Negras means “black rocks”) is definitely the site of Cayce’s third Hall of Records. We visited Piedras Negras in 2004 and found two specific places where the record hall might be accessed. Piedras Negras is very difficult to reach and an American university has the excavation rights to it. It is an incredible site where many of the most impressive Maya artifacts have been recovered. Quicktime clips from Piedras Negras can be freely accessed at: http://www.mysterious-america.net/yucatanhallclips.html

Question: What are the future research projects of the ARE Search for Atlantis team?

Answer: There are plans to perform sub-bottom profiling and side scan sonar at Bimini in 2006 and we plan on doing more at Andros in 2006. Another expedition to Piedras Negras is also in planning.

Question: Thank you very much, Dr. Little. It has been a pleasure interviewing you. Would you like to leave a message for those ones who wish to venture into the mysteries from Atlantis?

Answer: Many people have an interest in ancient mysteries and want to do something themselves. All of us are capable of far more than we think. For those who feel limited, the best way to start is to begin by examining ancient sites and mysteries in your own area. If it works out, the quest takes on a life of its own and will lead you to where you need to go next. It is important to remain balanced in such quests by maintaining day-to-day obligations while allowing yourself to venture into mysteries.
